Basuki Asked Uber Taxi Process Tax

Jakarta Governor, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok), appealed Uber Taxi to process the license or it will remain considered as illegal taxi.

If you want to have a real taxi company, please process the company tax

"If you want to have a real taxi company, please process the company tax," Basuki said, Thursday (9/17).

The governor examplified that app-based transportation in Jakarta is mushrooming. Eventhough no company base, but they still pay the revenue tax. Uber Taxi must also run the same thing, establishing a company, process NPWP, and Trading License (SIUP).

At this moment, Uber Taxi gives cheaper tariff compared to the existing taxi. "Other taxis also have application, but the tariff is more expensive than Uber," he added.

Basuki assessed Uber Taxi can give cheaper tariff because they do not pay tax. It is afraid that other taxi companies will do the same.

As known, City Police Traffic Directorate and Dept. of Transportation formed a task force in order to arrest the driver and ground the vehicle.

Uber Taxi is considered violating Act No 22/2009, Government Regulation No 74/2014, Transportation Minister Decree No 35/2003, and Jakarta Governor Decree No 1,026/1991.
